Leadership
Osagie Imasogie serves as our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and is a member of our board of directors . Mr. Imasogie has over 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, serving in multiple capacities, including business management, law and finance, and currently serves as a co-founder and Senior Managing Partner of PIPV. During his time at PIPV, Mr. Imasogie has been a co-founder and Chairman of the board of several pharmaceutical companies, including Iroko Pharmaceuticals, LLC, Churchill Pharmaceuticals LLC, Ception Therapeutics, Inc. and Trigenesis Therapeutics Inc. In addition, he serves on the board of a number of financial institutions such as FS KKR Capital Corp. (NYSE: FSK) and FS KKR Capital Corp. II (NYSE: FSKR) (combined $16 billion in assets under management), Haverford Trust Company (over $9.9 billion in assets under management) and Beltraith Advisors/StoneRidge Investments (over $2 billion in assets under management). Prior to PIPV, Mr. Imasogie conceptualized and established GlaxoSmithKline Ventures and was its founding Vice President. Mr. Imasogie led GlaxoSmithKline Ventures in concluding over 30 worldwide transactions within a 3-year period, in which he invested various GlaxoSmithKline (LSE: GSK) R&D non-progressed assets into various companies as the basis of starting new companies. Prior to GlaxoSmithKline, Mr. Imasogie was a Vice President for Product Development Strategy at SmithKline Beecham. Prior to SmithKline, Mr. Imasogie was the Founding Senior Vice President for Business Development and General Counsel at Endo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENDP), a publicly traded company with a peak market capitalization of $18 billion. Mr. Imasogie previously served as a DuPont Merck Vice President for International Sales and Marketing and General Counsel to DuPont Merck’s International, Manufacturing and Generic Drug Divisions. Mr. Imasogie has also been a Price Waterhouse Corporate Finance Partner as well as a practicing attorney with a leading U.S. Law Firm, Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis LLP, in the fields of corporate, corporate finance, taxation, and intellectual property law. Mr. Imasogie holds LL.M degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he is currently an adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Chair of the Law School’s Board. We believe Mr. Imasogie is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his pharmaceutical industry management and board experience and his investment experience.
Lisa Gray serves as our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President and is a member of our board of directors . Ms. Gray has over 25 years of experience in finance, marketing, business development, and operations, primarily within the pharmaceutical industry, and currently serves as a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of PIPV. In this capacity, Ms. Gray generates and leads investments, manages investor communications, and acts as advisor, CEO, or board member for portfolio companies. During her time at PIPV, Ms. Gray has been a co-founder and board member of several pharmaceutical companies, including Iroko Pharmaceuticals, LLC and Glycan Biosciences Inc. Prior to PIPV, Ms. Gray was the Managing Director of the Life Sciences Group for Quoin Capital Investment Bank. Prior to Quoin Capital, Ms. Gray was the COO of GlaxoSmithKline Ventures, focusing on GlaxoSmithKline’s (LSE: GSK) non-progressed research and development assets and was the primary liaison with the venture capital community. Prior to GlaxoSmithKline Ventures, Ms. Gray worked in various roles within GlaxoSmithKline and SmithKline Beecham, including Head of Financial Planning for the Pharmaceutical R&D Division, Director Hospital Markets for the Clinical Labs Division, and International Operations Consultant across divisions. Ms. Gray began her career as a management consultant and auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, LLC. Ms. Gray is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Valuation Analyst and has a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Villanova, an MBA in Finance, and a Post-Graduate Degree in Marketing Management. We believe Ms. Gray is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to her pharmaceutical industry experience and management experience.
Zoltan Kerekes serves as our Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President and is a member of our board of directors . Mr. Kerekes has over 30 years of experience in law, business and the life sciences. Mr. Kerekes is co-founder and Managing Partner of PIPV. In this capacity, he manages relationships with pharmaceutical companies and sources of capital, and leads transactions in the establishment of portfolio companies and acts as an advisor, Chairman or board member for portfolio companies. During his time at PIPV, Mr. Kerekes has been a co-founder and a board member of several pharmaceutical companies, including iCeutica; Iroko Pharmaceuticals, LLC, Churchill Pharmaceuticals LLC and Glycan Biosciences LLC. Prior to co-founding PIPV, Mr. Kerekes was a director for GlaxoSmithKline Ventures, where he led various compound and intellectual property transactions. Previously, Mr. Kerekes was a Senior Patent Counsel with GlaxoSmithKline, responsible for protecting and enforcing GlaxoSmithKline’s intellectual property. Prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline, Mr. Kerekes was an attorney practicing in the New York City office of White & Case LLP, a leading international law firm. Mr. Kerekes holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fordham University and a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law. We believe Mr. Kerekes is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his pharmaceutical industry experience and board experience.
Louis J. Vollmer will serve as a director upon the effectiveness of the registration statement of which this prospectus forms a part. Mr. Vollmer is a pharmaceutical executive who most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Iroko Pharmaceuticals, where he led the successful, global launch of three new pain-focused nano-drugs. Prior to that, Mr. Vollmer was a co-founder of the generics business at DuPont Pharmaceuticals and was a lead partner that coordinated the buy-out of that business to form Endo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENDP), a publicly traded company with a peak market capitalization of $18 billion. While at Endo Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Vollmer led the launch of Zydone® and Lidoderm®. Prior to starting Endo Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Vollmer was employed by DuPont Merck for 19 years. Mr. Vollmer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1978. We believe Mr. Vollmer is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his pharmaceutical industry experience and management experience.
Elaine V. Jones will serve as a director upon the effectiveness of the registration statement of which this prospectus forms a part. Dr. Jones is a venture capitalist with 20 years of investing experience and 30 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Dr. Jones currently serves on the following boards: CytomX Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTMX), an oncology focused pharmaceutical company; Gritstone Oncology, Inc. (Nasdaq: GRTS), a producer and distributor of cancer care drugs to treat tumors; NextCure, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXTC), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on immunomedicines for cancer and other diseases; and Mironid Limited, a private UK company that develops drugs to treat degenerative kidney diseases, chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer. She also serves on the advisory board of the Novartis Venture Fund and previously was Pfizer Ventures’ representative board member for over 20 portfolio companies. Dr. Jones’ drug development experience spans multiple modalities, including small molecule drugs, biologics, and nucleic acids. Dr. Jones has a Bachelor of Science from Juniata College, a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and was a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Viral Diseases at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). We believe Ms. Jones is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to her pharmaceutical industry experience and public company board experience.
Dr. Henrietta Ukwu will serve as a director upon the effectiveness of the registration statement of which this prospectus forms a part. Dr. Ukwu is a physician, infectious diseases expert, and pharmaceutical industry executive who currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Chief Regulatory Officer & Global Head of Quality at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. (TSE: 4578), which focuses on drugs for central nervous system, tuberculosis, ophthalmology and oncology diseases. She has worked at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals since 2013 in various leadership roles and manages over 200 employees globally and is responsible for its Global Regulatory Affairs & Global Quality strategy. Dr. Ukwu is a well-known thought leader as well as a professor and author of the book, Global Regulatory Systems – A Strategic Primer for Biopharmaceutical Product Development and Registration. Dr. Ukwu has received numerous professional awards and recognition, including the Top Black in Health Care – U.S.A. in April 2019. She was a resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee, Baptist Hospital and a fellow in Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University’s Medical Center. We believe Ms. Ukwn is well-qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to her pharmaceutical industry experience and management experience.
Dr. Calvin B. Johnson will serve as a director upon the effectiveness of the registration statement of which this prospectus forms a part. Dr. Johnson is the Chief Medical Officer and Global Head of Public Health for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Ltd. Prior to this role he was the former Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Corizon Health, which was the largest provider of correctional healthcare in the United States, with operations in 27 states. He is also the former Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Temple University Health System, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of quality initiatives and metrics at all health system facilities. Prior to joining Temple, Dr. Johnson served as the 24th Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where, shortly after his appointment, he led Pennsylvania’s successful management of the largest single-source hepatitis A disease outbreak in U.S. history. In addition, Dr. Johnson currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Highmark, Inc., Griswold Home Care International, iPraxis, and the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality. Dr. Johnson graduated from Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He earned his Medical Doctor degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree in health policy and management from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health (formerly School of Hygiene and Public Health).
