Leadership

Alan Boswell has served as our Chief Executive Officer and Co-President and a member of our board of directors since March 2021. Mr. Boswell most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Southcross Holdings GP, LLC, an energy infrastructure company focused on natural gas gathering, treating, processing and transportation services. Mr. Boswell managed the business and operations of Southcross and led a strategic review that ultimately resulted in the successful divestiture of Southcross Holdings’ assets, extinguishment of its liabilities and the wind-up of the investment. Prior to joining Southcross Holdings in March of 2019, Mr. Boswell served as Managing Director at Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., an alternative investment management firm with over $32 billion of assets under management, focused on energy/infrastructure, real estate, credit, renewables and growth equity. While at Kayne Anderson, Mr. Boswell was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and monitoring public and private investments across the entire energy value chain. Prior to joining Kayne Anderson in 2012, Mr. Boswell served as Vice President in the energy investment banking group at Citigroup, which he joined in 2007. Mr. Boswell began his career as an attorney at Vinson & Elkins in 2005, where his practice focused on capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions. After leaving Southcross in September 2019, Mr. Boswell has been a private investor. Mr. Boswell received a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University. We believe the Mr. Boswell’s considerable experience in both public and private investing, as well as his substantial experience in transaction execution and strategy, bring important and valuable skills to the board.

John Schaufele has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Co-President and a member of our board of directors since March 2021. Mr. Schaufele most recently served as Principal at Energy & Minerals Group (“EMG”), a diversified natural resources-focused private equity firm with $10 billion of assets under management, until February 2021. While at EMG, Mr. Schaufele was responsible for originating, executing and monitoring the firm’s investments, having sat on the boards of 10 platform companies while being involved in transactions representing over $5 billion of invested equity in the energy sector. Prior to joining EMG in 2011, Mr. Schaufele worked at Parallel Investment Partners, a middle market generalist private equity firm, from 2007 to 2011. Mr. Schaufele began his career at JPMorgan where he worked in both the Mergers & Acquisitions and Global Energy groups. Mr. Schaufele received a B.S. in Business and Accounting from Washington & Lee University. We believe that Mr. Schaufele’s considerable investment, strategic planning and operational experience, as well as his experience on the boards of both public and private companies, bring important and valuable skills to the board.

Ellen Wilkirson has served as our Senior Vice President of Finance & Business Development since April 2021. Mrs. Wilkirson most recently served as Vice President at Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., an alternative investment management firm with over $32 billion of assets under management, focused on energy/infrastructure, real estate, credit, renewables and growth equity. While at Kayne Anderson, Mrs. Wilkirson was responsible for evaluating, executing, and monitoring public and private investments across the entire energy value chain. Prior to joining Kayne Anderson in 2017, Mrs. Wilkirson served as an Analyst in the Global Energy Group at Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, from 2015 to 2017. Mrs. Wilkirson began her career in 2014 as an Associate in the assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mrs. Wilkirson received a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Mrs. Wilkirson is also a CPA.

Edward Herring was appointed to our board of directors in March 2021. Mr. Herring has over 27 years of investment experience and co-founded Tailwater Capital in January 2013. At Tailwater, Mr. Herring’s primary responsibilities include deal sourcing, execution, and monitoring of the Firm’s investments as well as management of the Firm. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pivotal Petroleum Partners, Copperbeck EnergyPartners, E2 Energy Services, Producers Midstream, Silver Creek Midstream, TopSail Energy, Goodnight Midstream, and Cureton Midstream. Mr. Herring currently serves as an elected Trustee for the Highland Park Independent School District in his hometown of Dallas. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Council for the McCombs School of Business Energy Initiative at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to co-founding Tailwater Capital, Mr. Herring was a Partner with HM Capital and served on the Investment Committee. Prior to HM Capital, Mr. Herring worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York and San Francisco, where he focused on M&A and financing transactions in the technology sector. Mr. Herring earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University. Due to his extensive investment experience in the energy industry, we believe Mr. Herring is well qualified to serve on our Board of Directors.

David Cecere was appointed to our board of directors in March 2021. Mr. Cecere is currently a Partner of Tailwater Capital, where he is responsible for deal sourcing, transaction execution and portfolio company oversight. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pivotal Petroleum Partners, TexStar Midstream Logistics, TopSail Energy, E2 Energy Services, Cureton Midstream, Nueces Midstream and Elevate Midstream. Prior to joining Tailwater in 2013, Mr. Cecere was an Associate with HM Capital where his primary responsibilities included evaluating, executing, and monitoring investments in the energy portfolio. Mr. Cecere joined HM Capital from Merrill Lynch and Co., where he worked as an Analyst providing capital raising and M&A advisory services for midstream companies. Mr. Cecere earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Finance and a BA in Plan II Honors. Due to his extensive investment experience in the energy industry, we believe Mr. Cecere is well qualified to serve on our Board of Directors.

Gary Luce Mr. Luce was appointed to our board of directors in May 2021. Since August 2020, Mr. Luce has been a Managing Director at HamiltonClark, a boutique investment bank where he focuses on biofuels and bioproducts, advanced materials, waste recycling and the circular economy. Prior to joining HamiltonClark, Mr. Luce served as the Chief Executive Officer of Seldon Energy Partners, LLC, a hardware and software technology company that provides oil and gas operators with an artificial intelligence technology to improve the economic productivity of wells, from 2014. Prior to 2014, Mr. Luce served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Terrabon, Inc., a biofuels technology company. Mr. Luce has also served in leadership roles in private equity at K - L Energy Partners, LLC, and Caliber Development Corporation. As a Partner at McKinsey & Company, Mr. Luce focused on challenges and strategic issues in the energy industry. In addition, he has held executive positions in various public companies, including EOTT Energy Corp in the midstream industry and Reliant Energy in the power industry. Mr. Luce received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Physics from Texas A&M University and Stephen F. Austin State University, respectively, and received his MBA from Houston Baptist University. As a result of his industry and leadership experience, we believe Mr. Luce is well qualified to serve on our Board of Directors.

Kathryn Miller Ms. Miller was appointed to our board of directors in May 2021. Ms. Miller co-founded BTU Analytics in 2014 and serves as President, where she leads the firm’s consulting and analytics groups in building data products and analysis for understanding the evolution of energy market dynamics. Ms. Miller previously served as the Manager of Consulting Services at BENTEK Energy, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the team providing customized research solutions to clients in the upstream, midstream, downstream and service sectors. Prior to that, Ms. Miller acted as a project manager within the firm’s consulting services group, delivering assessments of the outlook for regional energy markets and the impacts on asset valuation. Before joining BENTEK Energy, Ms. Miller conducted buyside investment research at an energy-focused hedge fund, worked in investor relations strategy consulting for E&P companies at EnerCom, and started her career in investment banking at Citigroup. Ms. Miller is a CFA charterholder and has a BBA in Finance from The George Washington University. As a result of her industry and leadership experience, we believe Ms. Miller is well qualified to serve on our Board of Directors.
