Leadership
Art Peck has served as our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since our inception in March 2021. Mr. Peck currently is an investor and partner at The Great, a fast-growing women’s apparel and lifestyle brand, since 2014 and an investor and board advisor for Community Grains, an organization helping to re-establish a local grain economy in northern California, since 2021. Mr. Peck previously served as the CEO and President of Gap, Inc., a worldwide clothing and accessories retailer, from 2015 to 2019. While at Gap, Inc., he has served as Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, President of Gap, Inc. Outlet Stores (Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Stores), and President of Gap, Inc. Growth, Innovation, and Digital. Prior to his tenure at Gap, Inc., Mr. Peck served as Senior Vice President, Partner, and Executive Committee Member at The Boston Consulting Group from 1982 to 2005, where he led the Global M&A Practice, leading deals from the beginning stages of upfront target identification and negotiation to post-merger integration. He received his Bachelor of Arts, Economics from Occidental College and his Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
We believe Mr. Peck’s extensive experience in the retail industry and executive experience make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.
Gary Wassner has served as our Vice Chairman since our inception in March 2021. Since 1975, Mr. Wassner has been CEO of Hilldun Corporation, providing business advice, financing, factoring and services to the fashion industry. Hilldun operates worldwide and has worked with premium brands including Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Golden Goose, and hundreds of others, and currently factors over 400 companies, the vast majority of which are suppliers of apparel and other consumer goods. Mr. Wassner has also served as the Chairman and Founding Partner of InterLuxe Holdings, an investment platform that supports fashion and luxury brands with capital, infrastructure, business resources and strategic guidance to accelerate growth, since 2014. InterLuxe’s first investment was in the designer company, JWU LLC, Jason Wu. Subsequent investments by InterLuxe were in the contemporary sportswear company ALC and outerwear company Mackage, where Mr. Wassner has held board member positions since 2015 and 2017, respectively. Mr. Wassner currently serves on the boards of the High School of Fashion Industries and FGI (Fashion Group International), as well as being an active Advisory Board member of FIT’s Social Justice Collaborative. He is a frequent guest lecturer at FIT, Parsons and the Fordham Fashion Law Institute, as well as many other organizations related to the fashion industry. Mr. Wassner has also served as a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America CFDA/CFI Advisory Board and a Business Mentor for the Fashion Incubator Program. Mr. Wassner graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harpur College, SUNY Binghamton, where he also received a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, and then continued his graduate studies at Bryn Mawr College until he joined Hilldun Corporation.
We believe Mr. Wassner’s significant experience in the fashion industry and investment expertise make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.
Abinta S. Malik has served as our President since our inception in March 2021. Ms. Malik previously served as Executive Vice President at Gap Inc. from 2015 to early 2020, first as General Manager and EVP for Gap Inc. Greater China (stores and digital operations across Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan) and subsequently as Head of Gap Inc.’s enterprise-wide Loyalty and Payments business. Prior to that, Ms. Malik was the Senior Vice President of Gap Online globally from 2013 to 2015 and SVP Old Navy Merchandising for the Kids, Baby and Maternity businesses from 2011 to 2013. Having joined Gap, Inc. in 1998, Ms. Malik served in leadership roles across multiple functions, including Finance and Inventory Management, before taking on General Management positions. She also served as a Member of Board of Trustees for the Gap Foundation from 2014 to 2017. Ms. Malik managed her personal investments from March 2020 to February 2021. Ms. Malik received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Mount Holyoke College, Masters in Development Economics from University of Cambridge, and Master of Business Administration from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton.
We believe Ms. Malik’s qualifications to serve on our board of directors include her particular knowledge and expertise in the eCommerce and retail industries and significant management expertise.
