Leadership

Bharath Srikrishnan is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BCAC and the founder of BharCap. Prior to founding BharCap, Mr. Srikrishnan spent five years as a partner on Pine Brook’s financial services investment team. He continues to serve as a consultant to Pine Brook. Mr. Srikrishnan serves as a director of Fair Square, Sculptor, TRIA Capital Partners and United Auto Credit. Mr. Srikrishnan formerly served as chairman and director of WhiteStar Asset Management prior to its sale to Clearlake Capital Group. Mr. Srikrishnan has 20 years of financial services investment, operating and advisory experience. Before joining Pine Brook, he was a managing director at Five Mile Capital Partners, where he was responsible for leading the firm’s financial services investment activities. Mr. Srikrishnan previously was a principal of Lee Equity Partners, where he focused on financial services private equity investments. Prior to that, he was a co-founder and managing director of NewStar Financial. Mr. Srikrishnan began his career as an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group of Salomon Smith Barney and as an associate with Capital Z Financial Services Partners. Mr. Srikrishnan holds a B.S. from Boston College in Finance, Operations and Strategic Management (cum laude). Mr. Srikrishnan also serves as a board director of the USA Wrestling Foundation and the YMCA of Greenwich. Mr. Srikrishnan’s significant investment and financial expertise make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Steve Abernethy will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. Mr. Abernethy is a co-founder and former CEO and executive chairman of SquareTrade, a highly innovative protection plan provider that disrupted the roughly $20 billion consumer electronics service contract industry. Mr. Abernethy served as CEO from 1999 to 2014 and as executive chairman from 2014 until January 2017. From 1996 to 1999, he worked in the financial institutions and media practices of the consulting firm McKinsey & Company. Mr. Abernethy is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council for Architecture and Environmental Design at California Polytechnic State University. Mr. Abernethy is a board member for AutoFi and Triparound. Mr. Abernethy holds a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School. Mr. Abernethy’s extensive management experience make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Raj Date will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. He has had a long and varied career in and around U.S. financial institutions as a FinTech investor, senior policy maker, commercial bank executive, strategy consultant and investment banker. Since 2013, he has served as managing partner of Fenway Summer, a hybrid advisory and venture investment firm focused on financial services and financial technology. In 2012, Mr. Date became the first-ever Deputy Director of the CFPB. As the Bureau’s second-ranking official, he helped steward the CFPB’s strategy, its operations, and its policy agenda. Mr. Date also served on the senior staff committee of the Financial Stability Oversight Council and as a statutory deputy to the FDIC Board. Before being appointed Deputy Director of the CFPB, Mr. Date acted as the acting leader of the new agency, serving as the Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury. He led the CFPB for most of the first six months after its launch in 2011. From 2009 to 2010, he founded and served as the chairman and executive director of the Cambridge Winter Center for Financial Institutions Policy, a private, non-profit research and policy organization that supported reform of the U.S. financial system. Prior to his government service, Mr. Date was a managing director in the Financial Institutions Group at Deutsche Bank Securities from 2007 to 2009. Before that, from 2002 to 2007, he was senior vice president for Corporate Strategy and Development at Capital One Financial. From 1996 to 2001, he worked in the financial institutions practice of the consulting firm McKinsey & Company. He has also served as an attorney in both private practice and government service. Mr. Date has since 2016 served on the board of Green Dot Corporation, a bank holding company. He also currently serves as a director for a number of private companies including Better Mortgage, a digital mortgage lender, since 2019, and Circle, a digital currency firm, since 2013. He also serves as the founding director of the Payments Leadership Council, a trade association including the CEOs of the largest US-based payments companies. Mr. Date received a B.S. from the College of Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley (highest honors) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (magna cum laude). Mr. Date’s significant investment and financial expertise make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Gene Lockhart will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. Since October 2014, Mr. Lockhart has been the founder, chairman and managing partner of MissionOG, a venture capital firm with significant operational and investment experience across the financial services and payments industries. Mr. Lockhart is also currently a senior advisor to The Blackstone Group, with a focus on Blackstone Growth and Blackstone Tactical Opportunities. He also served as special advisor to General Atlantic from 2012 to 2019. From 2002 until 2012, Mr. Lockhart was a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners. Mr. Lockhart’s prior leadership roles include serving as president and CEO of Mastercard International, CEO of Midland Bank, president of the Global Retail Bank of BankAmerica Corporation, and president of Consumer Services at AT&T. Mr. Lockhart has also served as a board member of many companies, including Aaron’s, Alkami Technology, Argus Information, Asset Acceptance Capital Corp., FactorTrust, Featurespace, First Republic Bank, Huron Consulting, IMS Health, Cognizant, Metro Bank, Netspend, Nubank, Progressive Financial and RadioShack, amongst others. Mr. Lockhart has served on numerous philanthropic boards, including serving in the past as the chair of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation (Monticello) and the chairman of the Darden School Foundation at the University of Virginia. He is currently serving as the Chairman of Academic Affairs for the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia. Mr. Lockhart earned his B.S. from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from The Darden School at the University of Virginia.

Robert Mahoney will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. Mr. Mahoney was most recently the president and CEO of Belmont Savings Bank before its sale in 2019 to People’s United Bank. In February 2014, Mr. Mahoney was named the “Most-Admired CEO of a small or mid-sized company in Massachusetts” by the Boston Business Journal. Fortune Magazine named Belmont Savings as one of  “The 100 Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S.” in both 2017 and 2018. Prior to Belmont Savings, he was the executive vice chairman of Citizens Bank and president of the Massachusetts Bank. He started his banking career at Bank of Boston where he served in a variety of U.S. and international executive positions. Mr. Mahoney received his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in 1971. He is a 1970 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He received the 1996 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Massachusetts, and the 2006 Columbia University School of Business Leadership Award. He is the recipient of the 2009 Henry L. Shattuck Boston City Champion Award and the 2011 USS Constitution Museum’s Charles Francis Adams Award for public service. Mr. Mahoney’s significant investment and financial expertise make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Karl (Kaushal) Mehta will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. Mr. Mehta is currently founder & CEO of EdCast, a next-generation knowledge platform company and former venture partner at Menlo Ventures. Previously, Mr. Mehta was the founder & CEO of PlaySpan, acquired by Visa, the world’s largest payment network. Mr. Mehta also served as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, selected by the Obama Administration during the inaugural 2012-2013 term. He was appointed by Governor Brown to the Workforce Investment Board of the State of California in 2014. In 2010, Mr. Mehta won the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young for Northern California. Mr. Mehta has been awarded “Tech Pioneer” by the World Economic Forum and he has been ranked among the Top 50 CEOs in small and mid-size company category by USA Today and Comparably. He is on the board of EdCast Inc, SV21 (Silicon Valley based Technology Investment firm) and iCREATE (India based venture incubator). Mr. Mehta’s ecommerce and FinTech expertise and his extensive management experience make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Vipul Tandon will serve as a director of BCAC following completion of this offering. From October 2018 until January 2020, Mr. Tandon served as a senior managing director at Newlight Partners, a private investment firm with approximately $4 billion in capital commitments and assets under management formed by the spin out of Soros PE. Prior thereto, Mr. Tandon was a senior managing director at Soros PE, which he joined in August of 2006, where he focused on opportunities in the financial services, automotive and industrial industries. Mr. Tandon was a key member of investment teams at Soros PE which completed the Essent and Owl Rock investments and served as a board member of Essent from 2010 to 2016 and a board observer of ORCC from 2016 to 2019. Mr. Tandon has worked on over $2 billion of equity investments across 16 companies. Mr. Tandon holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania (magna cum laude) and an M.B.A. from INSEAD. Mr. Tandon’s significant investment and financial expertise make him well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors.

Ethan Wang is the Chief Financial Officer of BCAC and a co-founder of BharCap. Prior to co-founding BharCap, Mr. Wang spent six years as a member of Pine Brook’s financial services investment team. He serves as director of Fair Square, TRIA Capital Partners, Belmont Green and as an observer on the board of Better Mortgage. Before joining Pine Brook, Mr. Wang was with JLL Partners, where he spent two years focusing on specialty finance, healthcare and business services opportunities. Prior to that, he was an analyst with Milestone Advisors, which was later acquired by Houlihan Lokey. Mr. Wang holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M.B.A. from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago (with high honors).
