Leadership

Stephen Roder is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and an independent director . Mr. Roder has over 41 years of experience dealing with global companies and 29 years working across Asian markets covering strategy, regulatory matters, finance, capital markets and transactions, with a focus on the financial services sector. Mr. Roder currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Resolution Life and as a Non-Executive Director of Serendipity Capital. Mr. Roder retired as Manulife Group CFO in 2018 after nearly 6 years. Prior to Manulife, Mr. Roder was one of the co-founders of Peak Reinsurance. He was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Peak Re in May 2018. Prior to co-founding Peak Re, Mr. Roder was the Group Chief Financial Officer of AIA between 2007-2010, Prior to AIA, he was the Asia Pacific Chairman of Financial Services at KPMG and served as a partner in Hong Kong/China, Japan and London. Mr. Roder holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Southampton. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Robert Jesudason is our Chief Executive Officer and will serve as an executive director . Mr. Jesudason founded Serendipity Capital in 2020 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner. He has over 27 years of experience operating and investing in the financial services and technology industries, including 15 years in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to founding Serendipity Capital, Mr. Jesudason was President of Block One, a leading global blockchain company and the developer of the EOS.IO blockchain protocol. He was named in the top 100 Global Blockchain Leaders in 2019 and Asian FinTech Top 100 in 2016. Prior to Block One, Mr. Jesudason was Group Executive, Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), where he was responsible for CBA’s financial management framework and was a member of its Executive Committee. Previously, he was Group Executive, International Financial Services at CBA, responsible for CBA’s retail and SME banking, digital banking and insurance businesses in China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Africa. He joined CBA in 2011 as Group Executive, Strategic Development, where he was responsible for Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions and the Group Productivity Programme. Prior to CBA, Mr. Jesudason was at Credit Suisse from 2007 to 2011 as Head of Global Emerging Markets within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) investment banking practice, where he was in charge of Financial Institutions coverage teams across APAC, CEEMEA and Latin America. Earlier in his career, Mr. Jesudason was a Managing Director in the Asian Special Situations Group at JPMorgan, Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate Development at Barclays PLC. He also worked for McKinsey & Co and GE Capital. Mr. Jesudason holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Aston University.

Anton Jerga is our Chief Financial Officer . Mr. Jerga co-founded Serendipity Capital in 2020 and serves as Chief Operating Officer and Partner. He has over 23 years of experience in the financial services industry and 22 years within the Asia Pacific region. Prior to Serendipity Capital, Mr. Jerga was a General Manager in CBA’s Group Mergers and Acquisitions team for 9 years, where he was involved in the execution of CBA’s international growth strategy and the development of CBA’s digital banking capabilities. As part of this role, he served in Hong Kong for 4 years and covered CBA’s international businesses in China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Africa, and was responsible for managing CBA’s partnerships with and shareholdings in Qilu Bank, Bank of Hangzhou and First State Cinda in China and Vietnam International Bank in Vietnam. Prior to joining CBA, Mr. Jerga was a Director in Citigroup’s Financial Institutions investment banking practice in the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Jerga began his career with AMP in Australia. Mr. Jerga holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from the Australian National University.

Stephen Fitzgerald is one of our independent directors . Mr. Fitzgerald is Chairman and Founding Partner of Affirmative Investment Management (UK), the world’s first pure play impact bond fund management company. He also serves on the boards of QBE Insurance Group (Australia) and Lombard Odier Investment Management (UK). He is also a member of the British Museum Investment Committee (UK) and of the NSW Government Expert Advisory Panel on Social Impact Bonds (Australia). In 2011, he was appointed to the Board of Guardians of the Future Fund (Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund), on which he served for a period of five years. Previously, Stephen was Chairman of Goldman Sachs, Australia and New Zealand as well as Head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International (GSAM). In this role, he was responsible for GSAM’s businesses outside North America, encompassing Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Mr. Fitzgerald joined Goldman Sachs in 1992 and was named a Managing Director in 1998, and a Partner in 2002. Mr. Fitzgerald holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of New England, Australia.

John O’Sullivan is one of our independent directors . He has over 43 years’ experience in the legal and financial services sectors in Australia. Mr. O’Sullivan currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of AMP Ltd, WestConnex and as the Chairman of Serendipity Capital. He serves on the Australian Takeovers Panel. He started his career at Freehill Hollingdale & Page (Herbert Smith Freehills), later becoming a partner at the firm. From 2003 to 2008, John was General Counsel of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia before spending ten years at Credit Suisse Australia where he was Executive Chairman, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Australia until February 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws degree from the University of London.
