Leadership

Lance West — Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors . Mr. West has spent his 35-year career in both operating and investment roles, including most recently at Centerbridge, where he joined shortly after the firm’s inception as a Partner and Senior Managing Director and later served as the CEO and then Chairman of Centerbridge Partners — Europe. Mr. West also served as a member of the firm’s Management and Investment Committees, until his retirement from the firm at the end of 2017. In addition, he helped lead the development of the firm’s businesses, including its investment platform in Europe.

Over his career, Mr. West has served as a CEO, Chairman, founder, and investor across a variety of investment platforms and businesses. Mr. West has focused on investments in the financial services, real estate, and related industries and has led and supported many successful investments by concentrating on the maximization of value through partnering with exceptional CEOs, actively supporting the development of superior management teams, operational improvement, risk management, balance sheet optimization growth, and technological innovation.

Since retirement from Centerbridge, Mr. West has been an active private investor, including participating in the acquisition and carve out of Walmart Bank Canada (now Duo Bank of Canada) and subsequent acquisition of Fairstone Financial Holdings Inc, the establishment of 25 Madison, an early-stage venture studio, and as an advisor to Lennar Corporation (NYSE: LEN) and Pollen Street Capital.

Prior to joining Centerbridge, Mr. West was a Partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he served as the head of Goldman’s Principal Finance Group, and was a member of the leadership team that helped establish the firm’s Special Situations Group. Mr. West also served on Goldman Sachs’s Investment Committees for both the Special Situations and Specialty Lending Groups. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. West was founder and CEO of Greenthal Realty Partners LP and GRP Financial Services Corp, a real estate asset management, special servicing and distressed debt investment management firm, which was sold to Sallie Mae (NASDAQ: SLM) in 2005. Mr. West originally began his career as a Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Mr. West has served as an advisor to or board member of numerous endowments, companies, and non-profits, including The California Institute of Technology’s Endowment Investment Committee, the US Programme at Chatham House (UK), the Board of Overseers of Tufts University, the Chair’s Council for the HSS Division at Caltech, the Economic Studies Council of The Brookings Institution, the European board of the Environmental Defense Fund, BankUnited (NYSE:BKU), Aktua Soluciones Financieras, Intrepid Aviation Holdings LLC, Green Tree Holdings, Resort Finance America LLC, Triad Financial SM LLC, Williams & Glyn’s Bank Limited (pre-IPO Transition Board), APCOA Parking Holdings GmbH and Duo Bank of Canada.

Mr. West received a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University. We believe Mr. West is well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his significant investment and industry experience and vast network of relationships.

Jeffrey Gelfand — Chief Financial Officer . Jeffrey Gelfand will serve as Aperture’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and lead our finance, audit, accounting, and business operations functions. Mr. Gelfand was previously a Senior Managing Director at Centerbridge and served as the firm’s CFO from 2006-2018. As CFO, Mr. Gelfand oversaw Centerbridge’s accounting, tax, operations, investor services and technology functions. Prior to joining Centerbridge, Mr. Gelfand was the CFO of Silver Point Capital, L.P., AOL Time Warner’s investment company, and Evercore Partners, Inc.

Mr. Gelfand is on the board of directors of Peridot Financing Solutions, as well as the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Mr. Gelfand began his career at Ernst & Young LLP. Jeff received a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan. He qualified in 1992 as a Certified Public Accountant in New York.

Lindsey McMurray — Director . Ms. McMurray has agreed to serve as a member of our board of directors. Lindsey McMurray will serve on Aperture’s board of directors and is the Managing Partner & Founder of Pollen Street Capital, as well as the Chairman of the firm’s investment committee. Ms. McMurray has been a private equity investor for twenty-five years with a focus on the financial services sector. Prior to founding Pollen Street Capital, Ms. McMurray led the team managing RBS’s £1.1bn Special Opportunities Fund and spent six years as a Partner at Cabot Square Capital, focusing on operating investments in real estate and other asset backed assets, as well as in investments in the Financial Services sector.

Ms. McMurray serves as non-executive director of several portfolio companies, including Shawbrook Bank, Cashflows Europe, Kingswood Holdings Limited and BidX1, and previously served on the Boards of Banca Sistema, Moneycorp and Arrow Global plc. She has a First-Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance and studied for an MPhil in Finance from Strathclyde University. We believe Ms. McMurray is well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to her significant investment and industry experience and vast network of relationships.

John C. (Hans) Morris — Director . Mr. Morris has agreed to serve as a member of our board of directors. Mr. Morris will serve on Aperture’s board of directors and is the Managing Partner of Nyca Partners, a fintech focused venture capital firm founded based in New York and San Francisco. Prior to founding Nyca Partners in 2014, Mr. Morris was a managing director at General Atlantic (2010-14), president of Visa Inc. (2007-10), and served many roles at Citigroup (1980-2007), including CFO and head of Finance, Technology and Operations for Citi’s institutional businesses, COO of the investment bank, and head of the financial services group at Salomon Smith Barney.

Mr. Morris is the Chairman of the Board of Lending Club and a board member of six private companies, including AvidXchange, Payoneer, SigFig, PayRange, Fidel, and Propel. He serves as a trustee of the Public Theater in New York, and he is a former chairman of the boards of MASS MoCA (2010-18) and the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth. He received a BA from Dartmouth College in 1980. We believe Mr. Morris is well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his significant investment and industry experience and vast network of relationships.

Dan Osnoss — Director . Mr. Osnoss has agreed to serve as a member of our board of directors. Dan Osnoss will serve on Aperture’s board of directors and is a Senior Managing Director at Centerbridge, with a focus on the Financial Services sector. Prior to joining Centerbridge in 2009, Mr. Osnoss was an Associate at Berkshire Partners, a private equity firm, and an Investment Banking Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group at Goldman Sachs.

Mr. Osnoss serves on the Boards of Directors of private companies DentaQuest Group Inc. and Newport Parent Holdings, LP (the parent company of daVinci Payments and North Lane Technologies). Mr. Osnoss holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with distinction, and a B.A. from Yale College, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. We believe Mr. Osnoss is well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to his significant investment and industry experience and vast network of relationships.

Magdalena Yesil — Director . Ms. Yesil has agreed to serve as a member of our board of directors. Magdalena Yesil will serve on Aperture’s board of directors and is a cofounder and executive chair of Informed, an artificial intelligence startup serving the Financial Services industry that utilizes machine learning models to classify, analyze, and extract data from documents used in consumer lending and account opening.

Ms. Yesil has been a serial entrepreneur and investor in several of the world’s leading technology companies, including Salesforce, where she was the first investor and founding board member and served on the company’s board post-IPO. Her multi-decade career in Silicon Valley evolved with the technology industry, covering semiconductors, computers, software, online services, Internet access, e-commerce infrastructure, SaaS and consumer Internet. Ms. Yesil founded three companies in succession dedicated to commercializing Internet access, e-commerce infrastructure, and electronic payments. Her entrepreneurial work with UUnet, Cybercash, and MarketPay earned her Red Herring Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Ms. Yesil joined US Venture Partners as a partner and then established Broadway Angels, a group of female angel investors. She received the 2017 Fearless Leader award from WomenOnBoards, and her book Power UP! How Smart Women Win in the New Economy, where she shares her learnings for success in the technology industry has been a best seller since November 2017. Ms. Yesil also serves on the boards of SoFi, Smartsheet (SMAR) and Zuora (ZUO). She received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Management Science and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. We believe Ms. Yesil is well qualified to serve as a member of our board of directors due to her significant investment and industry experience and vast network of relationships.
